shelter dinner

On the 4th Saturday night of every month, the North Jersey Vineyard Church cooks and serves food to the Bergen County Homeless Shelter Residents.  After serving the residents, volunteers are encouraged to sit down and talk with the residents.  The NJVC also picks people up for church each week from the shelter.  We usually host a Christmas party for the shelter residents and give everyone who is staying there Christmas presents.  Please contact Clive for more information about cooking and/or serving at the shelter.

"'I will show you my faith by my works' says the apostle in his book. (James 2:18).  For a number of years the church has consistently brought home cooked meals to the Bergen County Homeless Shelter near the courthouse in Hackensack.  Both former members and those with us now have transferred a little enjoyment to the residents to help them face the uphill battles in which they find themselves. While we are at the facility, we remind them of God.  Then, we give them an opportunity to experience Him for themselves especially by taking them to church the next day.  We have been transporting around 6 people or more to church for some time.  I believe that Jesus wants us to bring a level of support that they will receive from us. He wants them to succeed in their lives just as He wants us to do the same in ours. The Lord calls all of us. I hope that you  would consider the Shelter Dinner as one area you would ask the Lord to answer.  I have found happiness, joy, fulfillment, and an abundance of the Holy Spirit in all the little jobs needed to make each dinner successful.  It is good to be in the hands of God."
