The North Jersey Vineyard Church was planted out of the NYC Vineyard in Manhattan. In the fall of 1995 a kinship group began in Phil Chorlian's apartment in Bergenfield. This kinship was part of the kinship structure of the NYC Vineyard and began with 4 people.

In early 1996, Phil met with the regional leadership of the Vineyard and was released as a church planter for the Vineyard. In 1996, we saw our first kinship group multiply into three groups. These three groups would gather together one Sunday night a month at the Saddle Brook Holiday Inn.

On January 4, 1997, we began meeting weekly on Sunday mornings and the VCF of North Jersey was officially born. We continued to meet at the Saddle Brook Holiday Inn and we had about 40 people at our first service.

After spending almost seven years in a warehouse in Hackensack, we moved into our current facility in May of 2005.
